Privacy Policy
Last updated 30 October 2026
NeatEdit collects no data. Your text stays on your Mac, and the app has no network code.
Who we are
NeatEdit is made by Global Tech Distribution s.r.o., a company based in the Czech Republic. For anything about this policy or your data, write to info@gt-d.cz.
The NeatEdit app
The app doesn't collect, send or share any information. It has no accounts, analytics, advertising or tracking, and it never connects to the internet by itself.
To do its job it keeps a few things on your Mac, where only you and your Mac's backups can reach them:
- The files you open and save, which stay where you put them.
- Tabs you haven't saved yet, so they survive quitting.
- Your settings, such as font and line numbers.
- The paths of up to 500 recently closed files, with the place you left each one, so it reopens there.
- The list of recent documents that macOS keeps for every app.
Deleting the app and its data removes these. None of it ever reaches us.
Downloads, GitHub and the App Store
The download link on this site points to GitHub, which hosts our releases and source code, and GitHub's privacy statement applies there. If you open an issue on GitHub, what you write is public.
If you get NeatEdit from the Mac App Store, you get it through Apple, under Apple's own privacy policy. If you've chosen to share analytics with app developers in your Mac's settings, Apple may show us anonymous crash reports and download numbers. We can't identify you from them.
This website
This site uses no cookies, analytics or third-party scripts. Like most web servers, ours keeps logs of requests: IP address, time, page requested, referring page and browser type. We use them to keep the site secure and working and to see overall traffic, which is our legitimate interest under the GDPR. They're deleted after 90 days at most, and we don't share them unless the law requires it.
If you email us
We use your address and message only to answer you, and we delete them when they're no longer needed for that or for our legal obligations. Your email provider and ours handle the message on the way.
Your rights
Under the GDPR you can ask us for access to personal data we hold about you, and to correct, delete or restrict it, move it, or object to how we use it. Write to info@gt-d.cz. You can also complain to the Czech data protection authority, the Office for Personal Data Protection (ÚOOÚ).
Children
NeatEdit isn't aimed at children and, as above, collects nothing from anyone.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version appears on this page with a new date. If the app ever started to collect anything, we'd say so here first.
